The basis of the reform is that employers will need to automatically enrol eligible workers into a pension scheme and both they and the employer will need to make contributions.

The programme is being rolled out across UK businesses based on the size of their workforce.

Implementing the necessary changes can be time consuming and expensive. The experience of the larger firms who have already gone through the process is that you need to start preparations a year or more in advance of your staging date.

Apart from needing to ensure you have the right systems, processes and recording in place, you will also need to implement compliant employee communications. You may also need to make changes to your employment contracts and handbooks.
